Suzy O'Mullane

Suzy O’ Mullane  is a visual artist based in Ireland and France.  O’ Mullane’s work conceptualises emotional experience and memory through the mediums of painting, drawing, video, performance and writings. Each body of work relates to specific events centring around a particular identity, place, memory, personal connections. Formally, her paintings and drawings are executed in oil and charcoal on canvas or paper. Scale oscillates between very large (maximum 7ft x 10ft) and small/intimate. More recent video and performance work supports and intersects with the 2D work, and relies on written narrative and layers of associated imagery.

 

Educated at CCAD BA Fine Art Painting (Hons) and post graduate in Fine Art Painting, and UCC BA in English and Geography. She has been a full-time practicing visual artist since graduating in

1996. Although O’ Mullane’s work predominantly comprises painting and drawing, she also works in the mediums of video, photography and occasionally performance.

 

She has exhibited in Dublin, Cork, NYC, LA, Berlin, Seattle, Beijing, Shanghai. Since 2010, her work has been presented at international art fairs; Art Miami, Context NYC, Art On Paper NYC, Art Toronto, Art Chicago, Art Palm Beach, Aqua Miami, Pulse Miami and Art Seattle. Collections include public and private collections in the US and Europe including OPW Ireland, Crawford Municipal Gallery, TCD, UCD and UCC.

 

She is co-founder and former director of ArtTrail Cork (1996 to 2002). She has published critical visual art essays on behalf of peers. O’ Mullane is represented by Gibbons & Nicholas, Dublin and has work in the Flat Files of Perogi Gallery NYC
