View works. Crystalline: Made up of 160 parts arranged organically, the configuration depending on the location. This installation brings the elements of contemporary engineering together with prehistory in the use of carbon and charred bone. Crystalline', is a series of artworks relating to the dying glaciers. 'Study for a Volcano' is a multi-part installation that weaves together narratives of studies in volcanic eruptions, human breath and the idea of coexistence in a world moved by invisible networks. This work was came about after an expedition to Mount Etna volcano in 2018. For this work Siobhan McDonald was primarily looking at the consequences of our treatment of nature and exploring the notion of breath and volcanic activity.'

Siobhán McDonald is Artist in Residence at the School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin (2020-2023), exploring the Anthropocene and the recent consequences of our treatment of nature. Since 2020 she is selected to work with European Cultural Institutions such as BOZAR: Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels and Gluon: Platform for Art, Science and Technology on a new project about environmental change. The commissioned artworks will be presented at the Serpentine Gallery, London and Ars Electonica, Austria in 2022.

Recent awards include an EU Commission Alumni award 2021, Arts Council's Visual Arts Bursary 2020, Creative Ireland Award 2020 and Climate Whirl Arts Programme Helsinki 2020. Recent shows include BOZAR, Brussels, 2020; Deutsches Hygiene-Museum DHMD, 2020; Volta, Basel 2019; Limerick City Art Gallery, 2019; Deutsches Hygiene-Museum DHMD, 2019; The National Trust-Fox Talbot Museum, UK, 2018; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, 2018 among others. Her work is represented in many collections, both public and private such as The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Allied Irish Banks, Bank of Ireland, The Ulster Museum and Trinity College Dublin. Her projects are supported by The European Commission, The Institute of Physics, Culture Ireland, The Arts Council and The European Research Council.
